Alex Zhou joined Qiming Venture Partners in 2014 and focuses on investments in Information Technology practice, particularly in enterprise software (cloud computing, big data, cybersecurity), artificial intelligence, robotics, autonomous vehicle technologies, VR/AR, blockchain, IoT, etc. Prior to Qiming, Alex worked for Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) in Beijing and the Silicon Valley, focusing on hardware-related investments - “HardTech”, where he was actively involved in TiDAL System (acquired by Micron Technology). Before beginning his investment career, Alex was with Hewlett-Packard (HP), where he oversaw the company’s data storage business unit in China, delivering over US$160 million in revenue annually. Earlier in his career, he co-founded Rethink Technologies Ltd., a startup focusing on managing unstructured data. At Qiming, Alex has worked as board director/observer with entrepreneurs at UBTech, Chaitin Technology, Hypereal, GraphSQL, SequoiaDB, Transwarp, Face++, Fraudmetrix, Unisound, Rockrobo, etc.
Alex holds an M.B.A. degree in finance and entrepreneurship from Columbia University and a bachelor degree in computer science from Harbin Institute of Technology.
